A jury spent Wednesday deciding whether the death of an 18-year-old woman was an accident or murder.

Eric Ruthledge, 20, is accused of shooting a killing his best friend, Courtney Daily last November at his Butler County home.

Daily flew into Pittsburgh from Colorado to visit Ruthledge. According to family members, the two got along great and Ruthledge had no motive to kill her.

Jurors, who deliberated for about six hours Wednesday, learned that the two ordered food from Domino's just before the shooting took place. The defense argued that the two were having a good time and messing around with a gun when it accidentally shot.

“Five minutes before the shooting occurred, the two of them ordered from Domino's,” defense attorney Al Lidnsay said. “Our position is that you can’t transition from ordering Domino's to killing somebody. It just doesn’t work like that.”

Jurors will begin deliberations Thursday morning. If Ruthledge is found guilty of first-degree murder, he could face life in prison.
